This Privacy Policy explains how KOSMOS SOLUTIONS LIMITED handles information in connection with the Kosmos Data Advisory Android application, package name uk.co.kosmosinfo.consult.kosolink.layer.kosol.
Kosmos Data Advisory is a local-only workplace zone-mapping tool. It helps users record their own observations about rooms, areas and zones — for example visibility, shared devices, document and paper handling, storage control and network dependency — and to produce planning outputs such as a zoned readiness map and a zone-based action pack. Its core workflow is designed to run on the device, without accounts and without cloud services.
The sections below describe what the app stores on the device, when information can leave the device through actions the user chooses, and the choices available to users.
Scope and Operator
This policy applies to the Kosmos Data Advisory application for Android. The application is provided by KOSMOS SOLUTIONS LIMITED, which is the operator referred to as the company in this document.
The core workflow of the app is local to the device. Reading a saved map, recording flags against zones, and generating a readiness map or action pack do not require an account, a connection to a service operated by the company, or any submission of content to the company.
Information Stored on Your Device
The app stores its workspace content locally on the Android device. This local content may include the following items.
- Saved maps held as local workspaces
- Locally stored preferences such as theme, label density, default zone colour behaviour, export format preference, haptic feedback and starter layout preference
- Local export and saved summary files produced from your own mapping
Local Content Is Not Sent to the Company
Content created in the app lives on the user's device and is not received by the company as part of the core workflow. The app does not require personal identity information such as a name, postal address or date of birth to be used, and it does not build an online profile of the user.
User-created content may nevertheless contain personal information if the user chooses to enter it. Free-text notes, zone names, room labels, flags and similar fields are filled in by the user, and whatever the user types or attaches is held as local app content on the device. It is not automatically transmitted to the developer, and the company does not hold a copy of it on its own systems.
Because this content stays on the device, its accuracy and completeness remain the user's responsibility, and so does the decision whether to share it with anyone else.
Exporting, Copying and Sharing
The app allows users to export, copy or share locally generated maps, summaries and action packs through standard Android system actions. This happens only when the user initiates it. Exported files are produced from the content already stored on the device, and the app does not send them anywhere on its own.
Local data therefore remains on the device unless the user chooses to export, copy or share it. Once an exported file has been saved, sent or uploaded by the user, it is handled by whatever destination the user selected, and that destination's own practices apply to it.
External Actions and Other Services
Some actions in the app open other Android services when the user selects them. These include opening a web address in a browser, composing an email in an email client, opening a location in a maps application, and passing a file to the Android share sheet. These external applications operate under their own privacy practices, and the app does not control what they do.
Where a user chooses to email the company, the company receives the email address used and whatever the message contains, including any attachments. That correspondence is handled as direct correspondence with the company, separately from the workspace content held in the app.
What the App Does Not Include
The app does not include login or account registration, does not use cloud synchronisation, does not provide payment or subscription functionality, and does not provide monetisation features.
Local Controls and Deletion
Individual saved maps can be deleted within the app, and a clear option is available for removing local app data held by the application. Local content can also be removed by clearing the app's storage through Android device settings, or by uninstalling the application.
Deleting content within the app removes it from the device. Export files that a user has already saved, sent or uploaded elsewhere are not affected by an in-app deletion, because those copies sit outside the application.
Retention
Workspace content, saved maps and local preferences remain on the device until the user deletes them, uses the in-app clear option, clears the app's local data through Android settings, or uninstalls the application. The company does not hold copies of this local content on its own systems.
Exported files remain wherever the user chooses to save, send or upload them, and their retention is governed by the user and by the destination chosen.
Security
Local app content is kept within the application's own storage on the device and is not stored on company servers. Protecting the device itself, for example with the screen lock the user configures, remains with the user, and so does the handling of any file the user exports or shares.
Users should keep their device and any exported files under their own control, and should consider who may be able to reach those files after they have been saved or sent.
Children's Privacy
The app is intended for users aged 13 and above and is not directed to children under 13. The company does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If such information is identified, reasonable steps will be taken to delete it or otherwise address the situation.
